Mr. Charles L. Olvis

Charles Olvis, of Bristow, Virginia, along with partner Liz Muthard, built the Sunup prefix into one of the leading names in Old English Sheepdogs. Sunup produced many specialty, group, and top-20 winners, including Ch. Whisperwood Won Way to Go, who took Best of Winners at the OES national as a puppy and then returned at age 10 to win the Veteran Bitch class and the first Award of Merit.

Mr. Olvis judges the Sporting, Hound, Working, and Herding groups, several breeds from the remaining groups, Juniors, and BIS. Though, he says, "it is an honor to be asked to judge a specialty for any breed," he was particularly honored to judge the Old English Sheepdog national.

Mr. Olvis has served many dog clubs with distinction: the Dayton Kennel Club, Penn Ridge Kennel Club (president, vice president, co¿show chair), Potomac Hound Club (vice president, board member), and Old English Sheepdog Club of America (judges’ education co-chair). He has written for the AKC Gazette and made presentations at the AKC Judges Institute. He is an avid sports fan, partial to Ohio State.
